Mission Statement

Established in 1851, Notre Dame High School is a Catholic secondary school which educates young women in the tradition of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, founded by St. Julie Billiart. Our primary mission is expressed in her words: “Teach them what they need to know for life.” We provide a challenging college-preparatory curriculum which integrates classroom learning with downtown educational opportunities in culture, science, and technology. We maintain an enrollment that allows faculty to know each student and to give special attention to individual academic and personal needs. We encourage students to participate in varied activities to discover skills and talents in the arts, athletics, student leadership, and community service. In our richly diverse student body, young women develop a respect and appreciation for other individuals and cultures. Together, faculty and students create a supportive, open-minded environment in which each young woman is encouraged to explore her creative potential, develop self-esteem, strengthen her relationship with God, enjoy nurturing friendships, and grow in her ability to work with others and serve her community. We educate young women for success and leadership in a global and technological society. We prepare them to live as well educated, self-confident, and socially responsible women, sustained by religious faith and guided by spiritual values. http://www.ndsj.org
