Preparation Form for Liturgies with the Bishop

 

This form will assist the Bishop and your community to prepare well for your upcoming liturgy. Please complete this form only if you have already received a confirmation of your scheduled liturgy from the Bishop's secretary, Pat Allen.

General Information

Enter the date of your liturgy with the Bishop.

Enter the start time of the liturgy.

Enter the special occasion being celebrated. If no special occasion, enter "General".

Enter the name of the Church or location where the liturgy will take place.

If the location is not a diocesan parish or school, please include the address.

Liturgy Coordinator

Enter the name of the person who will be on site the day of the liturgy to assist the Bishop's Master of Ceremonies with any sacristy or liturgical needs.

Enter the phone number, with area code, of the on-site liturgy coordinator.

Enter the email address of the on-site liturgy coordinator.

Event Contact

Enter the name of the person filling out this form.

Ministers

Bishop McGrath is the main celebrant if he presides over the entire liturgy.

Enter the name of the priest or bishop who will be the main celebrant if Bishop McGrath is not the main celebrant.

The Bishop is usually the homilist. But another deacon, priest, or bishop might serve as the homilist for some special occasions, such as a pastor installation or parish anniversary.

Enter the name of the homilist if Bishop McGrath is not the preacher.

Enter names of priests who will concelebrate.

The deacon and the MC cannot be the same person.

The Gospel reading is proclaimed by the deacon or by a concelebrant if there is no deacon.

Readings

If possible, include the Lectionary reference # of the First Reading.

(book and chapter)

If possible, include the Lectionary reference # of the Psalm.

(book, chapter, verse)

If possible, include the Lectionary reference # of the Second Reading.

If possible, include the Lectionary reference # of the Gospel Reading.

Gathering Rites

The Sprinkling Rite is typically used during the Easter season and at Confirmation.

The Gloria is included on Sundays outside of Advent and Lent, on solemnities and feasts, and in special, more solemn celebrations.

When it is included, the Gloria should be sung and not spoken, if at all possible.

Liturgy of the Word

The Creed is included on Sundays and solemnities and may be included at special, more solemn celebrations.

Liturgy of the Eucharist

If the Lord's Prayer is sung, it should be a setting that the assembly knows and is able to sing well.

If a Song of Praise is used, it should be one that the entire assembly sings together and not a solo piece or meditation song.
