Programs and Missions

The pilgrim Church is missionary by her very nature, since it is from the mission of the Son and the mission of the Holy Spirit that she draws her origin, in accordance with the decree of God the Father.— Ad Gentes - On the Missionary Activity of the Church

Immersion Program

Through its various missions, immersion trips, and programs, the Diocese of San Jose proclaims the good news of the Reign of God through works of charity and development;  promotion of interreligious dialogue and intercultural understanding;  and solidarity with poor and marginalized people in their struggles for justice and dignity. These programs seek to provide lay people with a necessary theological foundation for effective leadership in ministry.

Mission Co-op 2012

The assignment letters for Mission Co-Op 2012 will be mailed to pastors during the week of March 12-16.  This year, we will be welcoming missionaries from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, the Philippines, Jamaica, India, Mexico, and Vietnam as well as from mission-sending societies and religious communities throughout the world.  Mission coordinators have been advised to contact the parish directly by June 1 to establish the date of their appeal which is to be scheduled during the months of July through September.  We are grateful for your continued support of the annual Mission Co-Op program in our diocese.

Immersion Programs provide adults and teens with deeper understanding and exposure to a language, culture and appreciation of religious faith. A variety of programs are organized yearly to encourage everyone from the Diocese of San Jose to join and enrich your life.

Mission...is not about going places, but serving people—down the street or across oceans, in other cultures or one’s own — Stephen Bevans, SVD
