Congratulations South Bay Youth Mentoring Project collaborative!

The California Province of the Society of Jesus, the San Jose Youth Intervention Organizations, and the Diocese of San Jose have received a Quest for Justice grant to collaborate in a comprehensive youth mentoring partnership project in the South Bay. The purpose of this endeavor is to curb the rise of juvenile delinquency by accompanying high-risk youth both before and after incarceration.

This project will be launched with an event on March 10, 2012 at Santa Clara University and will gather an audience of adults from several organizations who are interested in becoming mentors.

The hope is that as a result of this event at least one hundred mentors from the parishes in the Diocese of San Jose will make a commitment to accompanying a young person who is at risk of entering or recently released from the criminal justice system.
