Youth Ministry
The Division of Youth Ministry in the Office for Parish Services exists to develop the leadership of youth ministry in the Diocese of San Jose by engaging in youth ministry advocacy, structural and programmatic development, providing training opportunities, and playing a supporting role to youth ministry programs and their ministers.

Refuel
I recently had a chance to read a book called Refuel: An Uncomplicated Guide to Connecting with God. One of my desires as a lay minister is to continue to pursue my relationship with God in a way that fuels me up for my ministry to my family and my ministry to youth leaders in San Jose. It no doubt has been a challenge. I feel determined to connect with God, so I start to intentionally read the bible, go to mass more regularly, and find some time in prayer. Sometimes it works. Bereavement and Pastoral Care Issues of our Young People
This past week at our monthly youth ministry coordinator gathering, special guest Suzanne Young, from the Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of San Jose, joined us to talk about bereavement and pastoral care issues of our young people. Most of us involved in youth ministry are not trained counselors, yet sometimes we find ourselves in situations that require counseling skills. When an adolescent loses someone in their life, it can be traumatic. This loss can be the death of a parent, family member, or friend, dealing with the divorce of their parents, or the loss of a pet. These experiences have an impact on the life of the young people we serve. Read more...
