Lenten Praise Liturgy

Lenten Praise and Healing Liturgy

It is interesting to note that the Preface for Lent (Lent I ) for the Eucharistic Prayer's on Sundays in Lent, is defined as "The Spiritual Meaning of Lent" and says this:

"Father all powerful-and ever-living God, we do well ALWAYS and EVERYWHERE to give you THANKS through Jesus Christ our Lord. Each year You give us this JOYFUL SEASON ..."

WOW! Lent a JOYFUL Season. YES! Come and express your joy as we celebrate the Pascal Mystery with mind and heart renewed, as we give THANKS and PRAISE to our loving God through Jesus Christ our Lord for forgiveness of our sins and for filling us with His Holy Spirit.

Sunday March 7th Transfiguration Parish 5:30pm.
with Fr Tom Foster and James O'Connell celebrating the 2nd Sunday of Lent.

By the way why do we call it LENT? The answer...John 3:16   "God so loved the word that He LENT us His only Son.... :)     Yes, Jesus was only on Loan... from His Father......He came from Heaven and ascended back to Heaven.  However,  we now have Jesus' presence by the Holy Spirit and each time we CELEBRATE the Eucharistic Liturgy Jesus is really present:  in Us; the gathered worshipping assembly, in the Word; proclaimed, preached, prayed and sung,  and most excellently in Holy Communion; the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ,  the greatest Healing Sacrament.

So surrender your aches pains and burdens and let Jesus' real presence turn them into Lenten Joys of healing in body, mind, soul, and spirit.

Parish Leadership Forum

Join your colleagues - pastors, administrators, and principals - at the third Parish Leadership Forum on Friday, March 12, 2010.   This session, we will be pleased to welcome Sister Margaret Keaveney, D.C., Visitatrix of the Daughters of Charity, who will give the keynote address on "Leadership from Within."  Following the meeting, hospitality and tours of the Chancery will be available for any attendees who are interested.

The purpose of the Parish Leadership Forum is to promote leadership among the parishes, schools, cemeteries, and chancery offices.  The Forum provides an opportunity for leadership training and dialogue to institute and encourage best practices in administration throughout the Diocese of San Jose.

These meetings take place twice a year - once in the Spring and once in the Fall.  All pastors and administrators are expected to attend; principals are welcome and encouraged to attend.  In addition, the agenda for the Parish Leadership Forum will be published in advance of the meeting so that pastors, principals, and other parish leaders may determine who would most benefit by attending.

Catholic Relief Services Collection

CRS Collection Clip Art.jpg
March 14, 2010

The generosity of Catholics to the Catholic Relief Services (CRS) Collection is critical to the work of the Church in caring for the urgent needs of our brothers and sisters around the world who are victims of war, persecution, disasters, and poverty. For over 60 years, the CRS Collection has made it possible to reach out in love and solidarity—materially and spiritually—to “Jesus in disguise,” the refugee seeking safe haven and peace, the victim of deadly diseases in developing countries, the family impoverished by crushing national debt in their country, and the immigrant seeking citizenship and other legal services.
