The Busy Persons Retreat

Each retreatant will meet immediately afterwards with a spiritual director and schedule individual spiritual direction sessions for the following four days. Retreatants will be provided with materials for reading and reflection. The Busy Persons Retreat will conclude with a prayer service at 6 PM on Thursday, February 25.  Fee: $100.

Lenten Prayer Service with the Vallombrosa Choir

We are delighted to continue our series featuring the Vallombrosa Choir under the direction of Patrick Feehan. Mr. Feehan is a local composer, teacher, and conductor who has assembled a choir of more than 50 for liturgical celebrations throughout the year. Join with us for music, prayer, and reflection as we enter the season of Lent.
The Lenten Prayer Service will take place in the Vallombrosa Chapel and is open to all our friends and neighbors.

Faith Beyond 2000- Part 2, Sacraments at the Service of Communion

Faith Beyond 2000, part 2 is a dynamic formation program for catechists and others interesd in gaining a better understing of their faith.

Covers faith fundamentals that every catechist or pastoral minister needs to know.
Uses up-to-date DVD material from Echoes of Faith Plus.
Follows the Catechism of the Catholic Church and the Guidelines for Catechist Certification in California.

Young Adult Mass

We will be holding the Mass in the Small Chapel at St. Simon Church in Los Altos. Celebrate the Eucharist  with young adults (20’s and 30’s, single or married) from this and neighboring parishes with fellowship to follow. Our priest for this month will be Fr. Emmaus

Emmaus is the process of being with another person in spiritual companionship. Emmaus involves listening in a contemplative way to the experience of God in another.

What supports this kind of ‘being with another’?

  • Focused attentiveness to the experience of God in a person’s life
  • Awareness of the depth and expanse of God in everyday experience
  • Prayer
  • Conversational tools for contemplative listening

Who benefits from this process?

  • Persons in listening or companioning ministries, e.g., faith-sharing groups, RCIA team members, catechetical leaders, school teachers, pastoral care ministers
  • Those who desire a spiritual-formation experience that comes from learning to listen for the experience of God

Workshop details:

  • When: three sessions ? 10 a.m.-12 noon; Wednesday, February 24 - March 10 - March 24, 2010
  • Location: St. Joseph/St. Clare Conference Room, The Chancery, 1150 North 1st Street, San Jose
  • Cost: $60 for the three sessions. Attendance at all three sessions is expected.

Facilitators:

Safe Environment Training Workshop

In compliance with the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, Safe Environment and Sexual Conduct Training and the Adult Pastoral Code of Conduct is required of all diocesan personnel: priests, deacons, pastoral ministers, administrators, principals, teachers, staff, and volunteers. This training is a condition of employment and is expected to be completed within 6 months of hire for new employees. Training is valid for three years.  Volunteers, as well as employees who need to recertify their training, have the option of completing the training requirement by attending a live workshop or taking the training online at www.shieldthevulnerable.org.   New employees are required to attend the live presentation of the Safe Environment and Sexual Conduct Training.  The workshop is presented by the Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults.

 

Registration is required.  You can make a reservation in either of three ways:  (1) complete the "Signup" form below, (2) e-mail the Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults, or contact Linda Tully at (408) 983-0144.  Workshops require a minimum of 15 attendees and may be subject to cancellation for lack of sufficient participants.
