In addition to our regular “one pint” donors, we have a limited number of spaces for those wishing to make a “double red cell” donation. If you meet the criteria, you may be eligible to give two units of red blood cells instead of the usual single unit. This type of donation involves collecting only red blood cells and returning the remaining blood components, along with saline, to your body. While the process takes about 20 minutes longer than a whole blood donation visit, most donors leave feeling better than after a standard blood draw, as the process leaves them better hydrated.
