ELDER ABUSE WORKSHOP FOR CLERGY AND PASTORAL CARE MINISTERS
Did you know that on a national level, according to the best available estimates, between 1 - 2 million Americans aged 65 or older have been injured, exploited, or otherwise maltreated by someone on whom they depended for care or protection? Did you know that neglect is the largest form of elder abuse reported to Adult Protective Services? (Source: NCEA, Santa Clara County, Department of Mental Health)
In collaboration with the Council on Aging and the Interfaith Response to Elder Abuse and Neglect, the Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults invites you to make a difference in the lives of the people to whom we minister.
Learn how to identify elder abuse and how to report such abuse. Learn about the county, state and national resources available for your use with your ministry. Find our what your legal obligations are when you are working with the elderly.
If you are a priest, deacon, or if you are a lay or religious minister to the elderly or the homebound, you will want to attend this workshop. Arm yourself with the knowledge and tools to keep our elders safe and to help stop ABUSE!
For additional information please contact Bernard Nojadera, director of the Office for the Protection of Children and Vulnerable Adults at (408) 983-0113.
