Step Up Silicon Valley Announces Pilot Project to Move 1,000 People Out of Poverty by 2014
For the first time, local service providers will be able to measure how effective their services are in helping families move from poverty to self-sufficiency
WHAT: Step Up Silicon Valley is launching a new pilot project to move 1,000 people out of poverty in Santa Clara County over the next 12 months. Sixteen agencies in the Step Up network have joined the 1,000 Out of Poverty campaign, including Abode Services, Bill Wilson Center, Catholic Charities of Santa Clara County, Center for Employment Training, Community Solutions, EHC LifeBuilders, Family Supportive Housing, Goodwill Industries, Next Door Solutions, NOVA, Project Hired, Sacred Heart Community Service, Sunnyvale Community Services, St. Joseph’s Family Center, The Salvation Army, and West Valley Community Services. Each agency has committed to moving a certain number of people out of poverty by 2014. Read more...

On Friday, Nov 9, thousands will register for Sacred Heart Community Service's Holiday Food and Toy distribution
For 48 years now, Sacred Heart Community Service has been providing holiday food boxes to families that need help. This year we will distribute food boxes to 4,000 families at Thanksgiving, 3,200 at Christmas and 16,500 toys for 5,500 children. We need help from individuals and organizations to make sure we have the food and toys to make this year’s program a success.
