Ways to Give
Stewardship

“Christ has no body now on earth but yours; no feet but yours. Yours are the eyes through which He is going to go about doing good; yours are the hands with which He is to bless people now.”
St. Teresa of Avila
We practice Stewardship every day, sometimes without even knowing it. It is imitating the Lord Jesus, it is asking the question, “What would Jesus do?” and then following that path, Stewardship can be seen in the act of praying, even when we exercise. Again, taking care of God’s gifts and returning what God has given us with increase. Oftentimes, stewardship is tied to the concept of money. The definition of stewardship being time, talent and treasure, with the focus being on treasure, is all too real. Yet stewardship is spiritual; it comes from within a person and moves a person to use their God given talents to the benefits of others (talent+time) and yes, to even share their monetary wealth (treasure). That’s why we say stewardship is a way of life; it encompasses the entire person with the need to share God’s blessings. Consciously practice stewardship today. Realize each day when you are being “Christ-like” Rejoice in being a steward of Jesus Christ.
In practicing Stewardship we are called to do God’s work, to be a steward of the many gifts He has given us. Everything is a gift from God that we should receive gracefully, cherish and tend responsibility, share with others and return to God with increase. In a very real sense, as St. Teresa stated, we must become apostles for Christ’s message of love and sharing. We must become stewards of His gifts to us.
