World Day of the Sick
February 15, 2014 @ 11:00 am - 12:00 pm
In 1992, Pope John Paul II introduced the celebration of the World Day of the Sick on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. This annual celebration gives people a chance to pray for and deepen their solidarity with the sick and injured among us.
Each year, on a weekend close to the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes (February 11th), the Knights of Malta host World Day of the Sick at Santa Teresa Parish. It is an opportunity for parishes throughout the Diocese and caregivers to celebrate the sacrament of the Sick.
This year, Auxiliary Bishop Thomas Daly will celebrate the Annual Diocesan Mass of Healing and Anointing of the Sick in the Church of Santa Teresa on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 am.
The Order of Malta has graciously agreed to coordinate this annual event for the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes.
There will be special seating for the sick and mobility impaired including those in wheelchairs, with walkers, with braces, canes and service animals. Anyone who is in need of the anointing of the sick, their caregivers and families are welcome to attend. All in attendance will receive a special prayer card and holy water from Lourdes.
