"After God: Contemporary Continental Philosophy of Religion"

April 7, 2014 @ 5:15 pm - 6:45 pm

A lecture by Richard Kearney (Boston College). Professor Kearney holds the Charles B. Seelig Chair of Philosophy at Boston College and has served as a Visiting Professor at University College Dublin, the University of Paris (Sorbonne), the Australian Catholic University, and the University of Nice.

This talk will discuss the new “religious turn” in contemporary continental thought. Citing such figures as Levinas, Derrida and Ricoeur, the question is posed: how do we rethink God after the death of God? Beyond the poles of dogmatic theism and atheism, a third option will be explored: ana-theism.
