Building a Great Place to Work: Using Catholic Values as a Business Foundation, presented by Mike Blach, CEO of Blach Construction

Since 1989, Mike has practiced a highly collaborative and progressive style of leadership that has propelled Blach Construction on a path of consistent growth, profitability and market leadership.
Under Mike’s tenure, Blach has been ranked as one of the top 25 Great Places to Work (#14) nationally by Forbes (September 2013), and has achieved the #1 spot in the “Best Places to Work” competition in the greater Bay Area. His company has also been ranked among the top corporate philanthropists in Silicon Valley for many years and has won the George Burdick Award, a major Silicon Valley recognition for community involvement and philanthropy. Blach’s firm also has won numerous industry awards for safety, sustainability, innovation and project performance.
Mike also has been involved in many industry leadership positions, including chairman of the statewide AGC of California’s Building Division.
Mike’s community involvement has included serving as a board member, trustee and/or officer of many charities and non-profits, including Sacred Heart Community Service, Silicon Valley Children’s Fund, Santa Clara University and the Rotary Club of San Jose. He is currently the board vice president at Catholic Charities. And is an active member of the Order of Malta.
In 2011, the Santa Clara County Council of the Boy Scouts of America honored Mike with its Distinguished Citizen Award for his philanthropic work and contribution to the communities of Santa Clara County.
Mike and his wife Margie live in Willow Glen and have four children. Margie & Mike are parishioners at St. Christopher Church, where both of them serve as lay ministers.
