Surrounding Grace: Moment by Moment – A Retreat for Bereavement Ministers

You are invited to take time out for yourself to engage in discovery, reflection and spiritual renewal. As we cultivate our awareness of God’s presence in the many facets of our lives, our ministries become more grounded and vibrant. This capacity is strengthened both individually and communally. Essential elements of bereavement care will be integrated. Music, prayer, and creative expression will support our times of silence and focused sharing.

Morning hospitality will be served. We will begin the retreat promptly at 9am. Lunch will be served from 12:30pm to 1:30pm. We also invite you to consider staying for an afternoon workshop: “Consolation of Grief During the Holidays” from 2pm to 4pm with Fr. Chris Bennett to offer tools and insight when helping grieving families face the holidays ahead. Mass at St. Joseph of Cupertino begins at 5pm, if you wish to attend.

Presenter: Suzanne Young, MA
Suzanne Young has been a spiritual director since 1999. She has offered parish retreats and workshops for many years. Since 2008 she has worked for and with Catholic Cemeteries of the Diocese of San Jose in outreach and bereavement. In particular, she offers a 12 hour training course to parish staff and
parishioners who want to minister and console those who are grieving.
