Sacred Heart Parish in Saratoga has an opening for a Parish Campus Minister.

Mission:

Our vision for Sacred Heart Parish is to be the home that nurtures our faith journey with Jesus Christ. Our mission is to welcome the community, grow our Catholic faith, worship together, build our parish family, and act as Christians in the world. Campus Ministry strives to empower young people and those who minister to them to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in the Church and in the world.

Philosophy:

The approach of Sacred Heart Parish, Saratoga, is comprehensive, understanding that youth ministry works best when the entire parish is involved. The Campus Minister collaborates with parish leaders to draw youth into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, and a fuller participation in the life, mission, and ministry of the Church/Parish. By supporting the ministry of welcoming, engaging, and forming youth and by providing effective resources to adult Youth Leaders, we hope to create communities where needs are met, people are supported, families are strengthened, and Jesus Christ is served.

Overall Goals:

  • To empower young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ. As baptized members of the Church, youth are called to serve others and to serve Jesus Christ, bringing about the Kingdom of God in unique ways.
  • To draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission and work of the Catholic faith community. There are four notable communities that help youth grow in faith – the Family Community, the Parish Community, the Catholic School Community, and the Youth-Serving Community. When youth are drawn to these communities, they better understand what it means to live in a faith community.
  • To foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person. The Church promotes holistic growth and development of the entire person and thus campus ministry takes into account the specific developmental, social, and religious needs and nurtures tem accordingly.

Goals Specific to Sacred Heart Parish Community:

  • Build relationships with Jesus Christ and with one another (courage).
  • Growth in faith (knowledge, wisdom and understanding).
  • Worship, grounded in solid faith (piety and awe).
  • School/Welcome, remain engaged with Sacred Heart students/alumni and non-SHS who are parishioners (counsel).
  • Act, service to others, outreach programs (action).

Actions:

  • Getting to know the parish staff, clergy, pastoral councilors, school leaders and parents
  • Coordinating retreats, conferences prayer experiences, and service trips
