We congratulate all the priests and religious celebrating their milestone anniversaries for their tireless dedication in serving the Lord through the Diocese of San José and the Catholic Church.
They often wear many hats, such as administrator, maintenance man, cook, accountant, friend. They have served mostly within the Diocese, with some also serving as teachers, chaplains and counselors.

75 Years of Service
Sr. Anita Andreatta, CSC 
Sister Anita was born in Weed, California. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Saint Mary of the Wasatch College, Salt Lake City, and a master’s in education from Loyola University, Los Angeles, California. Sister Anita made her initial profession of vows with the Sisters of the Holy Cross on February 2, 1948, and her perpetual profession on August 15, 1951. She ministered for two years as the region/province administrator for the Congregation in San Jose, California.
Brother Howard Hughes 
Upon entering the Marianists, I was able to develop my interest in music and glee clubs, especially under the direction and inspiration of Bro. Robert Holzmer, who became my mentor. My interest in music and singing was nurtured in the Marianists, which enabled me to become a liturgical musician, as well as conducting glee clubs for Chaminade HS in Mineola, with performances at Radio City Music Hall in New York, in Marianist high schools and universities across the country, and to Santa Susanna in Rome, where my choir sang for St. John Paul II. In 2002, Brother Howard Hughes worked as an organist and music director at the Marianist Center in Cupertino, CA.

spent 13 years teaching religion and history at Serra High School in Gardena, CA and another two years teaching history at Archbishop Riordan. I served at the Newman Center for the University of California at Santa Cruz and spent more than ten years as the assistant administrator at Queen of Apostles Parish in San Jose. After that, I served in Religious Education at the Archdiocese of Vancouver in British Columbia and am currently retired at the Marianist Center in Cupertino, CA.

Sr. Ann Therese Lynch, PBVM 
taught and led as principal schools in the Diocese of San Jose for 15 years: St. John Vianney, St. Patrick, and St. Christopher in San Jose; St. Catherine in Morgan Hill; and St. Lucy in Campbell; and at the Presentation Sisters’ Learning and Loving Center in Morgan Hill for an additional 13 years. The remainder of her 70 years of ministry were in teaching and administration in Montebello and San Francisco. Sister Ann Therese lives at the Presentation Motherhouse in San Francisco, where she celebrated her Jubilee.
Sr. Marilyn Medau, PBVM 
is active in her parish and in caring for those made poor in Oakland, but early in her ministerial career she taught at St. Patrick School in San Jose (1965-1968 and 1971-1972) and both taught and was principal at St. Mary School, Gilroy (1968-1971). She was the Director of Food Program at St. Mary’s Center in Oakland for many years, and remains a volunteer and board member of this organization that provides services to seniors and preschoolers. She is celebrating her 70th Jubilee.

taught at St. John Vianney School, San Jose, in 1959-1961 and 1981-1984. She went on to teach in Catholic schools in southern California and Pecos, New Mexico, and as a parish Sister and catechist before returning to teaching at the Presentation Sisters’ Lantern Center for Hospitality and Education in San Francisco. Sister Anita lives at the Presentation Motherhouse in San Francisco, where she is engaged in volunteer work with St. Anthony’s Foundation and the Day Laborers meal program. She is celebrating her 70th Jubilee.

Sr. Paula Baker, PBVM
began her teaching career in southern California, first as a teacher and then principal. In 1977 she was called north to administer St. Catherine School in Morgan Hill until 1992. She then pivoted to the health care setting at St. Louise Hospital where she led the Mission Outreach, Services, and Integration teams until retirement in 2016. This outreach ministry was very meaningful for her. Sister Paula continues to reside in Morgan Hill and is celebrating 60 years as a woman religious.

Sr. Michael Anne Murphy, PBVM
is a lifelong teacher and principal, serving primarily in the Diocese of San Jose. She taught at or administered St. John Vianney School for 42 years between 1969 and 2016 with a stint at St. Patrick School from 1973-1978. She retired from teaching in 2016 to serve the congregation as President. Sister Michele Anne continues to reside in San Jose, and is celebrating 60 years of religious life.

served in teaching and social service ministries throughout the Bay Area, including San Jose: 14 years teaching and administration at Presentation High School; staff at Sacred Heart Community Services; and teaching at the Presentation Sisters’ Learning and Loving Center in Morgan Hill from 1995-2004. In retirement she resides at the Presentation Motherhouse and continues to volunteer with St. Anthony’s Foundation in San Francisco. Sister Judy is celebrating 60 years as a Presentation Sister.
