2020 Bannan Memorial Lecture – The Frontiers of Astrobiology

January 23, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Join the Ignatian Center’s Bannan Forum for the 2020 Bannan Memorial Lecture, featuring José Funes, S.J., Professor at the School of Philosophy in the Catholic University of Cordoba, Argentina.

Fr. Funes will address how astrobiology requires a multidisciplinary approach in order to achieve a better understanding of life in the universe. His lecture will pay particular attention to the scientific search for extraterrestrial intelligent life in the cosmos and the new challenges and new frontiers it presents for science, philosophy and religion. The question of if we are alone in the universe, leads us to ask who we are.

Fr. Funes will explore this question in a lecture and in conversation with Dr. Aleksandar Zecevic, Professor of Electrical Engineering and the Associate Dean for Graduate Studies at Santa Clara University.

A public reception will follow the event.
