Bereavement Ministry Training

Parish staff and volunteers are invited to participate in a 5 week series for those who want to learn more about ministering to those who are mourning.
The ministry of consolation depends on faith, compassion and prayerful presence. It becomes more effective when there is understanding of the grief process, practices of effective communication, and knowledge of varied models of consolation programs. Participants will engage in an established course of study with opportunities to learn, share and practice elements of this ministry that enhance skills and resources
Dates: Thursdays: November 5, 12, 19, and December 3 & 10, 2015 (Skip Nov.26)
Make-up session for one missed class

Location: Queen of Apostles Parish – Geary Hall, 4911 Moorpark Ave., San Jose, CA 95129
Facilitator: Suzanne Young, M.A.
Suzanne Young is an educator, spiritual director and former Outreach Coordinator for Catholic Cemeteries Diocese of San Jose. She has created and facilitated support sessions for parishes and cemetery staff and is delighted to be teaching this five session course on creating and sustaining a ministry in Parish Bereavement Ministry.
Cost: $100 per person*
*This fee will be returned upon completion of the training series. All 5 sessions must be attended for the fee to be returned.
