Prayer Practices – Contemplative Prayer
January 16, 2020 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
January Prayer Practice: Contemplative Prayer
“True contemplation is a theological grace. It can come to us only as a gift.” – Thomas Merton
Contemplative Prayer is a manner of quieting oneself and focusing on the Divine. Through Christian meditation, one is able to get rid of distractions so that one can gaze with faith upon Christ. Fr. Kevin Joyce will guide us through Christian contemplation. Thursday, January 16, 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Parish Center.
What is the Prayer Practices series?
Are you wanting to increase your prayer life? Are you looking for a way to pray that connects with you? Sacred Heart introduces Prayer Practices, a monthly opportunity to explore the breadth of Catholic prayer styles. Prayer isn’t only the recitation of words, and Prayer Practices will bring in art, body movement, music, contemplation, and other methods of helping us connect with God. Learn a bit about the history of each prayer style and then practice praying together as a group. Come for the entire series or only for a particular practice that intrigues you. One Thursday night each month, 7:00-8:00 in the Parish Center.
