Special Mass to those Affected By Hurricane Patricia
October 23, 2015 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
As you know, Hurricane Patricia is bearing down on the west coast of Mexico, the strongest hurricane in history in the Western Hemisphere. I am asking for prayers for the people of Mexico. Significant devastation is expected.
Experts say that hundreds of thousands of people will be left homeless, causing millions of dollars of damage.
Many of the loved ones of those affected live here in our local communities.
There will be a special Mass this afternoon at 5:30 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish. An all-night vigil will follow, concluding with Mass at 7:00 am.
We will continue to assess this situation, together with Catholic Relief Services, to determine the best way to offer our assistance to the people who will be affected by Patricia. At the same time, we are aware of the needs of the people of the Philippines following Typhoon Koppu, known locally as Lando, and will include these concerns in our plan of action.
For now, you are invited to the Masses and Vigil at Our Lady of Guadalupe; but even more, you are asked to keep these people in your prayers. For further information, contact Deacon Rubén Solorio in the Office of Social Ministry.
Special Prayers:
Survivors of emergencies need your prayers. Please join us as we pray for those affected by these latest emergencies in Mexico.
