The Pope’s Own Hand Outstretched: The Holy See in International Society

September 25th, 4:00PM, Santa Clara University Library – St. Clare Room (500 El Camino Real, Santa Clara, Ca 95053) – Bannan Forum lecture on the Papacy, Pope Francis, and international diplomacy especially regarding human rights and refugees.
By looking at advocacy activities (e.g., for human rights and refugees), Dr. Jodok Troy will illustrate how Holy See diplomacy participates in and shapes the practices and ideas of international diplomacy. He will trace Pope Francis’s political concepts as shaped from the margins of society, rather than from a hierarchical international society perspective
