St. Martin of Tours Parish

St. Martin of Tours Parish is looking for a Liturgical Musician, Part-Time.

Sunday 8:30am – Solo
        10am – choir
      11:30am – with 2 cantors

 

POSITION SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of the Liturgical Musician is to include proclaiming the faith of the congregation through the ministry of music and helping the assembly grow in faith through their participation in the liturgical life of the parish. The full, active, and conscious
participation of the assembly, including church members and visitors, is the goal. The Liturgical Musician works in collaboration with the Pastor(s) and Director of Liturgy to plan and administer an active series of worship, music and arts events which appeal to the parish community. The Liturgical Musician will help provide a welcoming atmosphere to encourage visitors and members to participate in the various ministries and services available at the Parish.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  • Must have a pleasant, inviting voice and have and inclusive sense of ministry that is welcoming and would encourage the assembly to want to respond in song.
  • Should be able to carry a tune and be consistent in that skill without excessive coaching.
  • Is willing to practice the music and prepare their voices ahead of time.
  • Must be prepared and on time for all practices, rehearsal and start of liturgies.
  • Must present music to choir members at least 72 hours prior to the beginning of assigned liturgy.
  • Must be aware of the musical level and ability of each choir member and train them accordingly.
  • Good listening skills and a willingness to work as a team player.
  • Business Casual attire minimum at Mass.
  • Must have sung with the church choir consistently for at least two months before she or he Cantors and must continue to be an active member of the choir on a regular basis.

Skill Prerequisites:

  • Basic musical training to the extent of being able to read music notation and understand relative pitch.
  • Ability and willingness to blend with other choir members except when individual leading is required (i.e. the Responsorial Psalm and the Gospel Acclamation).

QUALIFICATIONS TO PERFORM THE JOB SUCCESSFULLY: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability or physical demands required.

Salary Range: $125.00 – $200.00 per Mass based on education and experience.
