POSITION SUMMARY:
Cristo Rey San José (CRSJ) opened its doors in 2014 and is part of a national network of Cristo Rey high schools. With 100% of graduates eligible to attend four year universities, CRSJ seeks to support its alumni to graduate college within 4-6 years. Now with over 10 years in operation, CRSJ has identified a further need to provide support to alumni who are looking for financially and professionally rewarding jobs. These may be jobs during or after college, or jobs that help them advance along a fulfilling career trajectory that does not require a college degree.
The Alumni Career Services Lead is a regular, part-time position with a work schedule of 20 hours a week. This job description captures the deliverables of the role, which will include maintaining and updating an ongoing plan for Alumni Career Services (ACS) at CRSJ. The ACS Lead will execute this plan, providing career services support to alumni, collaborating with key internal and external stakeholders and communicating to alumni how they can continue to receive support from CRSJ into the future. The Alumni Career Services Lead will collaborate with Corporate Work Study partners, organize networking events, and track student progress to ensure successful transition into the workforce post graduation. This position reports to the President & CEO.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Data collection, management and reporting (15%)
- Provide strategic direction and vision while collaborating with the President, Principal and Data Team to decide on data collection and reporting priorities (e.g. alumni surveying both qualitative and quantitative, President’s Dashboard reporting and, eventually, Board and Cristo Rey Network reporting and more to be determined).
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders who use alumni data – Advancement team, Academic team, Alumni Advisors and the CWSP team – to identify data and reporting needs and ensure access to needed data.
- Maintain and improve alumni recordkeeping tools which currently includes Gradforce records and alumni career and contact information spreadsheet.
- Consistently track employment and Partner outcomes data.
- Liaise with Cristo Rey Network points of contact and Alumni Advisors to best leverage Gradforce for data management.
Alumni Relationship Management and Engagement (65%)
- Build relationships with and encourage alumni to reach out for support; meet with alumni via Zoom and in person visits to share ACS support opportunities; proactively communicate with alumni via phone, text, LinkedIn, email, etc.
- Create and highlight pathways for alumni to engage with CWSP Partners for networking, internship and career opportunities.
- Connect alumni with high quality workforce development, community-based organizations, and campus career centers to help scale the work and further their goals.
- Develop innovative strategies to engage alumni who are not in contact with College Counselors and Alumni Advisors/ACS; work to decrease barriers to engage by identifying common barriers and investing in long term relationship-building.
- Use social media to engage alumni and connect them with opportunities. Maintain and grow alumni LinkedIn group; collaborate with Alumni Advisors on alumni Instagram content.
- Recruit, train and maintain cohort of ACS volunteers to help with job/internship search basics – resume/LinkedIn updating, interview prep, networking – and connect volunteers with job-seeking alumni.
- Continue to evaluate value and cadence for live group events with alumni (Zoom and/or in person); this may include networking events, job/internship-seeker gatherings, campus events. visits, etc; be the primary point of contact for outreach and recruitment for these events.
- Manage and improve ACS website section with relevant resources for alumni and external stakeholders that promote and explain ACS and provide alumni with professional guidance.
External Partner Relationship Management, Engagement and Development (10%)
- Engage with the Cristo Rey Network and peers at other Cristo Rey schools working in ACS related roles to develop and implement best practices, and connect alumni to jobs out of state.
- Identify ongoing opportunities for CWSP Partners and alumni to connect; create pathways for alumni to engage directly with professional opportunities at CWSP Partners.
- Develop strategies to add value for CWSP Partners via partners-only recruitment events and opportunities; assist in or develop marketing and PR materials related to this.
- Manage roster of early-in-career and university recruiting professionals at CWSP Partners; engage in intro/next steps meetings with interested Partners (in collaboration with CWSP team members); maintain communication with these contacts via intentional outreach.
- Be the primary point of contact for CWSP Partners with a specific interest in staying in touch with or reconnecting with their former CWSP students – now alumni.
Internal Partner Engagement and Collaboration (10%)
- Create, use and update the annual calendar for ACS programs (e-news, events, other engagement, etc) in order to maintain a robust set of offerings for alumni.
- Continue to develop an interdepartmental understanding and agreement on how CWSP, Advancement, Academics and Alumni Advisors engage with alumni and collaborate on shared interests regarding alumni; inform the development of a multi-year org-wide “alumni strategy”
- .Work with supervisor and Alumni Advisors to broaden CRSJ staff understanding of the value and need for ACS work and promote two way communication regarding alumni updates; this may include sharing through all-staff communications (admin e-news, all staff meetings, social media, etc.) and relationship-building with current staff to ensure they know to share alumni updates with ACS/Alumni Advisors.
- Work with internal stakeholders (Academics, CWSP, Counseling and President) to determine key opportunities to build relationships with seniors before they graduate, promoting ACS support services and next steps; this may include presence at key CRSJ events, integration into College & Career Readiness class programming, connecting with seniors through CWSP programming, etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 8-10 years of work experience
○ Significant experience working with first gen students or young adults in a counseling (guidance, college or career), coaching or recruiting capacity; experience in workforce/pipeline development with first gen professionals a plus.
○ Experience working to build, maintain and improve positive external partnerships with nonprofit and corporate entities.
○ Preferred: experience working with recruiting or HR departments at large companies; experience and success in assisting young professionals with their job search; experience collaborating specifically with companies on the current CWSP Partner list.

SALARY AND COMPENSATION
- The full pay range, which encompasses all experience levels, is $50,000 to $65,000 for the 50% (20 hours/week) part-time role. Within this range, we pay in accordance with what could be reasonably expected based on an individual’s experience level.
- Full time employees are eligible for the following benefits: medical, dental, vision, and retirement. Employees’ premiums are covered for medical, dental and vision at 100% and dependents at 50% if elected. This position is eligible for enrollment in the group voluntary retirement plan – 403b.
