We are all watching with deep concern for our brothers and sisters in Southern California who are severely affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas. The loss of lives, homes, and properties, coupled with the ongoing hardships faced by countless individuals and families, calls us to stand together in faith and prayer.

To express our solidarity and support, I ask that a special prayer be offered for those affected by this tragedy. This prayer may be recited at the end of Mass after the Final Prayer or as a concluding prayer during the Prayers of the Faithful this weekend, January 11-12.

A voluntary second collection may be made by parishes and will be remitted to the Archdiocese of Los Angeles.

Let us entrust to the Lord’s mercy those who have lost their lives, the injured, and all who mourn. Let us also pray for the safety of the first responders, firefighters, and volunteers who are working courageously to save lives and provide relief.

Together as a community of faith, we trust in the Lord’s providence and pray for healing, strength, and peace for all who are suffering.
