Extended Care Manager Part Time – St. Leo the Great Elementary School – 2023-24 School Year

St. Leo the Great is seeking an Extended Care Manager for the 2023-24 school year. The school is located in the Midtown area of San Jose, close to Diridon train station. Hours are Mon, Tues, Thursday, and Friday from 2:30-6:00 and Wednesdays from 12:00-6:00.

Under the direct supervision of the Principal, the Extended Care Manager is responsible for providing an appropriately safe, caring and enriching environment for children in TK/K through 8th grade who are participating in the before and/or after-school care program and for ensuring that the program is supportive of the school’s philosophy, organization, and curriculum. The Extended Care Manager prepares activities, assists with the needs of students, and supports learning by creating an atmosphere where students are active and engaged.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING (and other duties as assigned):

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Extended Care program.
  • Ensure a safe and healthy environment based on the safety and behavioral standards of the school.
  • Train, manage, and supervise Extended Care support staff and volunteers.
  • Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate educational enrichment curriculum that expands and supports student learning experiences beyond the classroom.
  • Collaborate with the Principal on all aspects of the Extended Care Program, including, but not limited to:
    • Supervision
    • Hiring
    • Book-keeping
    •  Resource management
    •  Communications
    •  Record keeping
    • Budget-setting

● Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals.
● Comply with security procedures, including attendance, pick-up, and emergency procedures to ensure the children’s safety.
● Secure/close campus at the end of each school day.
● Work in a team environment and encourages open communication regarding concerns/issues with children, parents, and co-workers.
● Prepare program materials.
● Maintain current and accurate records according to program policy.
● Collaborate with peers to enhance the work environment and support program effectiveness.
● Assist in maintaining facilities used by the program including storage of equipment and cleanup of area.
● Maintain confidentiality over student and institutional information.

Education and/or Experience:
● High school diploma.
● Course credit in child development, preferred.

First Eucharist Coordinator (Part Time) Sacred Heart – Saratoga, CA

Sacred Heart Parish is looking for a First Eucharist Coordinator. The position is part-time, September thru May, approximately 10 hours per week.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The First Eucharist Coordinator is called to be first and foremost a person of Faith, supportive of the teachings of the Catholic Church, whose every effort should be directed to furthering the mission to witness to Jesus Christ’s presence in the world and to respond to the challenge of the Gospel message. This coordinator promotes the development of a community of faith by employing principles and techniques which encourage Christian community. The First Eucharist coordinator, in collaboration with clergy and staff, thus ensures that opportunities for faith growth and education are available for every family to be more active Disciples of Christ.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Continue to build upon the existing First Eucharist Program
● Collaborate with the Family Faith Formation coordinator to ensure First
Eucharist candidates are prepared to receive first communion
● Collaborate with the Family Faith Formation coordinator to ensure that
parents of First Eucharist candidates participate in the process and are
engaged in the faith development of their children
● Hold twice monthly preparation classes on Sundays
● Plan and execute a meaningful retreat
● Working in coordination with the Sacred Heart School 2nd grade
teacher plan and execute the First Eucharist Mass
● Keep detailed records of participants for registration

QUALIFICATIONS:

Director of Youth and Young Adults Ministry – (Part Time) St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Palo Alto CA

Part Time – 16/18 hours/week

The Mission of Youth Ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish:

This position coordinates comprehensive Junior High and High School youth ministry for the parish. The Director of Youth Ministry will work collaboratively with the Parents, Pastor, Director of Faith Formation, as well as the Saint Elizabeth Seton school and pastoral staff. He/she will be responsible for coordinating all activities of the Junior High (Grades 6 – 8), High School (Grades 9 – 12) and Young Adults ministry.

The Parish seeks an individual that will approach this job also as a response to a vocation to serve the Youth in the Parish. Someone that will bring energy, commitment, and the desire to set the ministry on fire.

Our ideal part-time assistant would be bilingual (Spanish proficient) and can help to (a) coordinate with the Spanish Sunday School and Confirmation Class, (b) stage events including logistical planning and setup/cleanup support, and (c) translate ministry-wide communication into Spanish; to continue to strengthen the bonds between our English and Spanish speaking communities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Being able to recruit and engage core team leaders and facilitators in support of the program.
  • Being able to attract, recruit, motivate, educate and retain youth members in the junior high and high school youth ministry programs.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Scripture, theology, liturgy, catechesis, and adult faith formation.
  • Demonstrate and model for our youth active participation at Mass and other liturgical services.

Position Summary:

Collaborates with Pastor in developing and strengthening the Parish Family Life opportunities and Business Management.

Duties and Responsibilities: This is a leadership position strongly oriented to work as a team with the existing staff, leading multiple initiatives that will make our Parish continue to grow and get stronger.

  • Collaborates with Youth Ministry Programs and youth Confirmation Program.
  • Collaborates with Pastor managing Parish Business process’ (contracts, property management, rental, etc).
  • Collaborates to develop the Parish Webpage. Keeping it up to date with Parish information. This may include the Parish General Schedule.
  • Collaborates in managing Parish Newsletter. Collaborate with Parish Bulletin editor.
  • Coordinating Family Life Events/Opportunities such as but not only Parish Picnic, Spring International Festival, Christmas time celebrations, parish retreats and others (eg. pilgrimages, outreach opportunities).
  • Leads evangelization initiatives.
  • Collaborates with existing groups to strengthen Parish collaboration.
  • Parish development. Responsible for developing and executing fundraising initiatives and programs to help achieve our organization’s overall mission and goals. This position involves researching, prospecting, cultivating and managing relationships with donors, as well as coordinating fundraising activities.
  • Will help the Parish to continue making office improvements to better serve our community. (eg improving the use of ParishSoft).

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual preferred – English/Spanish.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office such as Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience in editing programs including designing the web page and bulletin (or must be willing to learn).
  • HR knowledge.
  • Personnel management skills.

Director of Faith Formation – Catherdral Basilica of St. Joseph – San Jose, CA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Responsible for parish programs and processes designed to lead the adults, children, and youth of the faith community to maturity of faith through instruction and formation in the Christian life.

Planning Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement long and short-term goals and objectives for the areas of responsibility under the supervision of the Pastor.
  • In cooperation with the Pastor, evaluate catechetical programs in areas of responsibility at regular intervals.
  • Coordinate and provide ministry through online tools when necessary.

Program Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and/or oversee all components of the parish catechetical ministry program – adults, youth, children, and families.
  • Plan and develop curriculum for parish catechetical ministry programs.
  • Select materials, promote and provide adult faith formation.
  • Coordinate and oversee Christian Initiation of adults and children and sacramental preparation for all ages.
  • Assist in planning sacramental celebrations – Communions, Confirmations, Christian Initiations, etc.
  • Provide opportunities for family faith formation.
  • Recruit, select, provide initial training, supervise, and evaluate catechists in the areas of responsibility.
  • Encourage the spiritual and professional development of catechists.
  • Assist coordinators and catechists as needed.
  • Assist in the review and selection of catechetical texts.
  • Follow diocesan guidelines on catechetical programs as well as diocesan Safe Environment.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Prepare and monitor the catechetical ministry budget.
  • Supervise the collection of fees and purchase of catechetical materials for each program.
  • Supervise the maintenance of records: permanent records, sacramental records, catechist records, and emergency information.
  • Aware of legal issues related to catechetical ministry and follow the law regarding the protection of children from abuse as a mandated reporter.

Relationships

  • Maintain appropriate internal and external communications.
  • Communicate regularly with the Pastor and pastoral staff, attend staff meetings, and collaborate in appropriate catechetical/parish projects.
  • Communicate regularly with catechists, encouraging them, assisting them, and supporting their development and certification.
  • Communicate with parents regularly and promote their active involvement.
  • Act as liaison between the parish catechetical program, youth ministry, and the catechumenate.
  • Participate in diocesan catechetical meetings as appropriate and required.
  • Promote the participation of catechists in Diocesan and other opportunities for training and formation.

Personal and Professional Development

  • Maintain Master Catechist Certification.
  • Participate in opportunities for continuing professional and spiritual development.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic.
  • This position requires a good understanding of Scripture, theology, catechesis, program development, coordination, and professional relationships.
  • Qualifications include a degree in a course of study related to catechetics, religious education, theology, pastoral ministry, or a related field equivalent. Current certification as a Master Catechist, according to the California Catholic Conference Guidelines preferable, but not required.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (Preferred). Or fluent in one language and a good knowledge and understanding of the other (English or Spanish) and a willingness to work within a culturally and economically diverse environment.
  • Three years of experience in a parish or diocesan position.
  • General Computer Skills – Microsoft Office Suite
  • Able to work weekends as required by catechetical classes as well as some evenings.
  • This position also requires the ability to provide ongoing support to the volunteer catechists.
  • A person who does not meet the preferred qualifications above is expected to work toward becoming fully qualified with the assistance and consideration of the parish.

 Pay Range: $21.68 – $31.44 per hour based on education and experience
