POSITION SUMMARY:
The Faith Formation Coordinator responds to the spiritual, catechetical, liturgical, and social needs of the Catholic youth in the parish. This involves supporting the youth ministry program designed for Edge students in junior high, and Life Teen students in grades 9 – 12.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

• Plan and coordinate with Core teams to plan and implement weekly Edge and Life Nights
• Evaluate and assess programs for areas of improvement
• Plan and facilitate retreats and lock-ins
• Assist the Faith Formation Director to recruit, supervise, train, and evaluate catechists; support spiritual growth of catechists
• Promote the youth sacramental programs, and other youth events, through bulletin announcements, Mass/Pulpit announcements, relational ministry, website updates, weekly emails
• Be responsible for recruiting and inviting youth who minister at 6 PM Youth Mass
• Maintain accurate records of youth who minister at 6 PM Youth Mass
• Communicate regularly with Director, catechists and parents
• Assist in fund raising events to support youth programs
• Work within an established budget, assist in the maintenance of records and perform other related administrative tasks
• Collaborate within the (Diocese of San Jose for Youth Ministry) events and Retreats
• Participate in Diocesan gatherings
• Collaborate with parish and school staff for events
• Continue professional and spiritual development

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
• Basic understanding of Scripture and the theology that relates to the specific area of responsibility
• Must be a practicing Catholic committed to living a life consistent with the teachings of the Catholic Church
• Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills; collaborative leadership qualities
• Must have the ability to identify, invite, train and develop leaders and volunteers

Computer Skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, Outlook, and Parishsoft. Must
be current with technology mediums to connect with teens and parents such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and other social media.
Other Requirements: Able to work evenings and weekends.

Youth and Young Adult Ministry Coordinator, Saint Lucy Parish – Campbell CA

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Serves the needs of the youth and young adult families of St Lucy parish and forms them into radical disciples through relationships, prayer experiences, service, ministries and programs.

GENERAL DUTIES:

This position is for all of the youth and young adult ministry programs of the parish. General duties include, but are not limited to:

  1. Implementation of programs, ministries and other experiences that promote the eight components of the U.S. Bishops document “Renewing the Vision”.
  2. Coordination of the Middle School Ministry, High School Ministry, Confirmation, and Young Adult Ministry programs at the parish.
  3. Providing opportunities through workshops, retreats, and other spiritual formation and evangelization of youth and young adults.
  4. Facilitating the training and formation of leaders through recruiting, training, evaluating, and encouraging vocations.
  5. Facilitating the planning of, implementing, and evaluating long and short range ministry goals.
  6. Promoting active youth worship including participative and inclusive liturgy and prayer opportunities.
  7. Coordination with other parishes in the best practices for youth ministry.

 RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

  1. Coordination the Middle School Ministry-
  2. Coordination the High School Youth Ministry- Life Teen.
  3. Coordination the High School Confirmation Program.
  4. Implementation and coordination of the Young Adult Ministries.
  5. Serves as the staff liaison between the Young Adult Hispanic Group (Despertar Juvenil)
  6. Provides Relational Ministry to the families in our parish youth ministries and programs.
  7. Provides Relational Outreach Ministry to youth and young adults in and out of the parish boundaries.

Administration:

  • Attends all staff meetings, faith formation team meetings, and Diocesan meetings for Youth Ministry Coordinators.
  • Budget planning.
  • Calendar planning.
  • Collaboration with other parishes & their youth ministries.

 Miscellaneous:

  • Works in collaboration with the youth of our St. Lucy School.
  • Assist with the Quinceañeras Retreat and incorporate ways to evangelize the teens and their families.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Practicing Roman Catholic who is in good standing with the Catholic Church.
  • Successful completion of Diocesan Safe Environment process and clearance of fingerprinting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Public speaking experience.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends.

Education:

  • S. Degree in related field of study and preferred Master’s degree in Theology, Catechesis, and/or Pastoral Ministry.

Experience:

  • At least 3-5 years of experience in a Youth Ministry setting.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 30 lbs.
  • Proficiency in writing in English & Spanish.

SALARY RANGE: $22.05 per hour to $26.53 per hour depending on education and experience.

Director of Youth and Young Adults Ministry – (Part Time) St. Thomas Aquinas Parish, Palo Alto CA

Part Time – 16/18 hours/week

The Mission of Youth Ministry at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Parish:

This position coordinates comprehensive Junior High and High School youth ministry for the parish. The Director of Youth Ministry will work collaboratively with the Parents, Pastor, Director of Faith Formation, as well as the Saint Elizabeth Seton school and pastoral staff. He/she will be responsible for coordinating all activities of the Junior High (Grades 6 – 8), High School (Grades 9 – 12) and Young Adults ministry.

The Parish seeks an individual that will approach this job also as a response to a vocation to serve the Youth in the Parish. Someone that will bring energy, commitment, and the desire to set the ministry on fire.

Our ideal part-time assistant would be bilingual (Spanish proficient) and can help to (a) coordinate with the Spanish Sunday School and Confirmation Class, (b) stage events including logistical planning and setup/cleanup support, and (c) translate ministry-wide communication into Spanish; to continue to strengthen the bonds between our English and Spanish speaking communities.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Being able to recruit and engage core team leaders and facilitators in support of the program.
  • Being able to attract, recruit, motivate, educate and retain youth members in the junior high and high school youth ministry programs.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of Scripture, theology, liturgy, catechesis, and adult faith formation.
  • Demonstrate and model for our youth active participation at Mass and other liturgical services.
  • Have good verbal and written communication skills, and be proficient in the use of the computer, basic Microsoft Office functions and social media.
  • Must follow guidelines for youth ministry safe environment and meet the standards as outlined for the Diocese of San Jose.

The Director of Youth and Young Adults Ministry is responsible for:

– Regular Youth and Young Adults meetings throughout the entire year.

– Community outreach opportunities.

– Collaborating with parish activities.

– Engage the youth in Sunday Mass participation, ministries, and prayer life.

– Will work closely with Faith Formation and Liturgy & Music Directors.

– Other proposed activities.

Education and Experience

Typical requirements are a college degree plus experience working with youth. Also desired would be either a Certificate of Youth Ministry, be a graduate of the Institute for Leadership in Ministry, or Certificate of Master Catechist.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

PAY RANGE: $23.50 – 34.07 Per Hour based on education and experience.

Youth & Young Ministry Coordinator, Part-Time, St Catherine of Alexandria Parish

This position administers the youth and young adult parish ministries in both English and Spanish and is responsible for a comprehensive youth and young ministry program.

Duties and Requirements: (i.e.. education, good communication skills, evening/weekend hours, ability to lift 50 lbs.)

Responsibilities include:

  • Interpreting the needs of the youth to the pastoral team and community.
  • Facilitating, planning, implementing, and evaluating long and short-range program goals
  • Leads team members in planning and coordinating the programs and services
  • Develops job descriptions, recruits, and facilitates the training to support the youth leaders.
  • Develop and implement the Life Teen program and Junior high program.

          – Coordinate program components and implement curriculum.

  • Assist in the development and managing the program budget
  • Establishing a collaborative relationship with other members of the pastoral staff
  • Assure that legal and moral responsibilities are provided within context of the parish program
  • Support families in their role of promoting healthy adolescent development and faith growth
  • Administer designated parish program: Confirmation Program
  • Must have knowledge of Pastoral Plan of the Diocese of San Jose and works to implement it
  • Attend all parish staff meetings and obligations
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
