The Simbang Gabi, a novena of Mass, first introduced in Mexico, was known as Misa de Gallo.  The Spanish missionaries brought the practice to deepen the faith of the people of the Philippines.  The masses were celebrated as early as 4:00 a.m. to allow farmers to participate in the liturgy before they went to the fields.  Simbang Gabi is a long Catholic tradition among many Filipinos not only in our country but anywhere in the world where Filipinos find homes. 

 Kick-off of Simbang Gabi 2021 is on Tuesday, December 14 at 7:00P M  at St. John the Baptist Church, 350 South Abel Street , Milpitas, CA 95035.  The mass will be presided by Bishop Oscar Cantú.   There wil be Blessing of Parols. Mass will be indoors, observing current CDC protocol. Reception following the Mass at Pavalkis Hall. Maximum occupancy is limited to 200.
